All entries should be made on Thursday, September 21 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm with the exception of flower arrangements which can be entered on Friday from 8:00am to 9:00am.

Flower Show General Rules

Horticulture Rules

  1. 1. All classes are open to any amateur grower.
  2. 2. All Horticulture entries must have been grown by the exhibitor. Potted plants must be owned for 90 days prior to the show.
  3. 3. Containers of clear glass/plastic must be used for cut specimens. Stems of the exhibit must be visible with no foliage below the water line.
  4. 4. All entries should be properly named (Genus, species). Labeled horticulture specimens will be given preference in judging.
  5. 5. Container grown plants may be double potted.
  6. 6. One blue ribbon will be given per class, if merited.
  7. 7. The Scale of Points listed on Pages 297-302 in the Handbook for Flower Shows, 2007 updated edition, shall be used for judging horticulture specimens.
  8. 8. A specimen is one plant, one bloom, one spike, or one spray.

Design Rules

  1. 1. All classes are open to any amateur designer.
  2. 2. Design entries must be registered with Lieu Via Gary, 276-646-3223, by September 20, 2017.
  3. 3. All exhibits must contain some plant material, fresh and/or dried as specified in the schedule.
  4. 4. Fresh plant material may never be treated.
